Alexander Technique

The Alexander Technique is a powerful tool for personal change, which can bring about lasting improvements in physical and mental performance. People from all walks of life use the technique to enhance their co-ordination and comfort in everyday tasks as well as specialised activities, often expressing surprise at how much easier their activities, and therefore their lives, become.

The process is essentially very simple. During a course of lessons we learn to understand what determines our patterns of movement and how to change those patterns. Alexander teachers also use gentle manipulation and guided movements to generate the experience of moving more effectively.

The more commonly reported benefits include freedom from tension and fatigue, higher energy levels and lower stress levels. Painful symptoms that may be caused by inappropriate movement patterns or excess muscular activity tend to disappear in the process. By learning more about ourselves and the principles which govern movement behaviour we can make increasingly better use of our minds and bodies, allowing us to reach our full potential.
