Problems that can be treated

Towels in therapy roomIf you are not sure what therapy would be suitable for you, we provide a brief overview below. However, do not hesitate to contact the Clinic on 01225 313153 (see home page for times) for further advice.

Healing
It could be said that the principle aim of COMPLEMENTARY and ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE, is to stimulate the body's own healing mechanisms. Orthodox treatments tend in contrast to take control of these processses or override them completely, often in a more aggressive way. Both approaches have their place, of course and can invariably be used together.

Recent changes in advertising standards now restrict listing specific ailments and conditions that can be
treated by practitioners. Such lists of ailments had their uses but were also misleading because they
implied that Alternative/Complementary therapies treated the illness, whereas they work more by
treating the person. For this reason we could say that any individual can receive treatment, irrespective
of the illness or condition they are presenting with, because if the possibility is there for self-healing
(and it usually  is), Alternative & Complementary therapies can work to stimulate & enhance this.
This work will often encompass the more emotional and mental aspects of an individual's life, as well
as the purely physical aspects.

Well Being
The treatments we offer tend to have the benefit of enhancing an overall sense of well-being and good health.  This is because they try to go beyond the immediate symptoms by stimulating the body's own systems of healing and self-regulation.

If you are concerned about any symptoms from which you may be suffering, the BNHC would always recommend that you consult your GP as a matter of course. In addition, seeing an alternative or complementary practitioner could also be of benefit.
